Hello, welcome to my world of Cyphotilapia Frontosa. This site is dedicated to this majestic cichlid that i have been keeping for 11 years. I also have included other fish that i currently have. The largest Frontosa I currently own is my very first Frontosa(see above). I purchased this beast in 1993 as a 3" juvie. He now stretches the ruler at over 14". The fin extensions on this male are outstanding, as would be expected on a Frontosa over 11 years of age. He also is the only wild caught specimen that I currently have. I also should add that due to the recent name change, this Frontosa is now known as "Gibberosa".

The Frontosa in the above picture is my male Burundi. I recieved this specimen in 1996 as a 3" juvie. He has grown into a monster over the years with a fairly large hump. Most Frontosa are calm and docile, not this Burundi. He is the meanest Frontosa I have ever owned. At this time he is currently 12"+( I measure my fish out of the water for an accurate measurement).
I also have 4 female Burundi to keep him company.

One of the most popular questions that people ask me is "what do you feed those things". I can tell you that they have a better diet than I do! I spend around 50 bucks a month to keep them happy. I have a feeding schedule I strictly follow because it seems to have worked for me.

Monday- Frozen Krill
Tuesday- Hikari Pellets
Wednesday- Shrimp
Thursday- Nothing, don't want to get them to fat!
Friday- Frozen Squid
Saturday- Hikari Pellets
Sunday- Frozen Clams

Water changes and tank maintenance can be a real chore if you are running alot of tanks. I only run 2 or 3 tanks at a time, my largest being a 125 and my smallest a 40 gallon. Very rarely do I ever skip a water change. This is very good for growth. When my Frontosa were juvies I did a 40% water change 4 times per week. Now that my fish are all adults, I do a 40% change every Sunday night. I also clean the substrate and the glass at this time. Every 3 months I clean 1 filter. I currently have 2 AC 500 on my 125. Very easy to clean.
